Cosmic Culture: Jan 4 2025

2025 is off to the races. Buckle up for a Spring Awakening like no other.

This Time It’s Personal

She’s baccckkkk. While some of us are still trying to get out of our sweats, Meghan Markle’s already debuted her personal Instagram (@meghan) AND dropped a trailer for her new Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan—part of Meghan and Harry’s Archewell Productions $100 million deal with Netflix signed in 2020. Both of these creative projects were previously announced, as word of the show surfaced in April (shortly after her American Rivera Orchard brand launch…which….has yet to produce, well, anything), with the Duchess of Sussex herself previously hinting at an Instagram comeback in a 2022 interview. Haters may hate, but Meghan’s aesthetic game is elite and we’re most definitely going to need some light content given how 2025 is off to quite literally a bang. Wear your florals! (too soon?) All eight episodes of With Love, Meghan drop on January 15.

✨ Cosmic alert: Listen, Meghan was born to be a lifestyle blogger (and a royal, but we digress), it’s written in the stars! With her creative and warm Leo Sun, chic and “perfect” Libra Moon, and nurturing Cancer Rising, Meghan embodies the ultimate hosting queen. The announcement's timing coincides with Meghan’s progressed moon (her evolving moral compass and heart) recently moving into Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus that loves nature, indulgence, and a lovely gathering among friends. Taurus also rules stability and grounding, which makes sense as Meghan settles into her Tig ways after Brexiting to her new life as a private citizen.

Guten Tag

You’re either in, or you’re out. In this case, Heidi Klum is definitely in and back in the hosting seat after an 8-year hiatus away from Project Runway. Klum, 51 years young, was the host of the wildly popular design reality competition from 2004 to 2017, even winning an Emmy in 2013 for her role—which she shared with co-host and icon Tim Gunn. Klum and Gunn had left Project Runway (after 16 years!) due to their creativity being restricted on set. The duo previously cited budgetary restrictions and the show’s fixed model as reasons that catalyzed their move to Amazon’s Making The Cut (safe to say that show might be currently on hiatus). As much as we loved Christian Siriano stepping into the role of mentor these last few seasons, we can't help but wonder if Tim Gunn will be joining Klum on set. Project Runway (an original Bravo production), will be available to stream on Freeform, Disney+, and Hulu.

✨ Cosmic alert: Venus is the planet that rules relationships, creativity, money, and beauty, while 8 years marks a Venus cycle (a period of evolving values and relationship renewal). No coincidences here that the 8-year period corresponds to the time Klum stepped away from Project Runway before deciding to work it out on the remix with this Freeform reboot.  Not only that, we are experiencing another Venus Retrograde this Spring (the shadow period begins later this month, though the retrograde will officially commence in March). Venus Retrogrades, much like Mercury Retrogrades, are periods of revisiting old relationships to breathe fresh life into them based on your updated desires, creative vision, or budget.

It Never Ends

Ok so I’m assuming we’re caught up with the Blake v Baldoni of it all, but just in case, the It Ends With Us drama from August has spilled over into the new year, and boy is it messy. On NYE, Justin and Co. filed a $250 million lawsuit against The NY Times for its reporting on Lively’s previous allegations (which surfaced right before Christmas Eve), claiming that the publication "'cherry-picked' and altered communications stripped of necessary context and deliberately spliced to mislead." Blake then responded with her lawsuit (filed in NY) against Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Productions, and their PR team, officially accusing them of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign against her. It’s worth noting that winning a libel / defamatory suit against The NY Times is incredibly difficult, given the precedent established with the landmark Supreme Court Case - The New York Times Co. v Sullivan, which restricted the ability of a public official (including celebrities) to sue for defamation. Following the NYE suits, Brian Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, noted on January 3 that they plan to sue Blake directly and release “every single text message between the two of them.” Yikes, but also please pass the popcorn because we love a good "receipts, proof, timeline" moment around these parts. Regardless of whose “team” you’re on, the biggest loser of all is Hollywood’s PR machine in the eyes of public perception.

✨ Cosmic alert: Filming for It Ends With Us began in May 2023, amidst a Mercury Retrograde—if only they had an astrologer on set to let them know that might not be the best decision for smooth communication and logistical planning. Oh well. The movie then premiered amidst another Mercury Retrograde, which conjured up all sorts of confusion, involving a quiet revisiting of past events on set and also a personal retrospective of Blake’s media guffaws. Very retrograde coded. This latest IEWU chapter with legal battles happened amidst the final Mercury retrograde of 2024, further demonstrating a continuity of misunderstanding and no one getting on the same page. Needless to say, we’ll most certainly keep our eyes peeled for the next Mercury retrograde in March / April 2025.
